A number of energy companies have recently announced cuts to their electricity and gas supplies, but many customers will not be able to benefit from lower bills because of the type of tariff they are on.
However, they might be able to save money on their utilities by investing in Dimplex electric heaters for homes.
Joe Malinowski, founder of theenergyshop.com, explained that there are three types of consumer who will probably see no difference in their energy bills despite their provider announcing price drops.
The first category contains those who signed up to a fixed deal last year when prices looked as though they were going to continue rising. This unfortunately means that fixed-rate customers will continue to pay the higher amount for their electricity supply.
"Number two, you might be on a cheaper variable rate product for example, like the WebSaver tariff, where even though standard bills are falling the WebSaver tariff is guaranteed to be a certain percentage below tariff, but if it is already below the guarantee, there is no reason for it to fall any further," he commented.
"Thirdly, there is the sheer number of people who aren't going to get any cuts at all."
Mr Malinowski drew attention to British Gas, which has ten million gas accounts and five million electricity customers but is only cutting its electricity prices.
"There are millions of customers who aren't going to see anything at all," he added.
However, this could benefit those who are using Dimplex electric panel heaters to warm their property warm this winter, as it will mean they are paying less than those who are relying on older, less efficient gas heaters.
Meanwhile, E.ON has also recently announced a price cut of six per cent to its standard electricity prices, which equates to £312 off the average annual household bill.
